It seems a bit too good to be true, but I've been on fish oil supplement for almost 2 weeks and have been feeling much better for a few days already. I am always leary of the cause-effect thing, but maybe it really is the fish oil.
Today I went to the store to see if they had the oil that the pharmacist had originally recommended (but was out of stock). They did. It is called Carlson's and it is made in Norway. It is rather bland except for a hint of lemon that they added. I have burped a couple of times today and the only effect was that of lemon, so that is good.
The other good thing is that it has much more EPA packed into one dose. One teaspoon contains 800 mg. of EPA. That is a lot easier than taking 6 pills through out the day. I want to get at least 1000 mg, so I'll need to take slightly more than a teaspoon.
Some other things I've learned in my reading is that it is good to take vitamin E with the fish oil. Many of the supplements seem to have vitamin E in them, but some do not. Also, someone else had mentioned the vitamin A issue with the fish liver oils--that should be looked at. And, I learned today that sometimes the cod-liver oil type products are preferable if you want similar amounts of EPA and DHA, whereas most of the prepared supplements of fish oil contain about 3:2 EPA:DHA.
How are others feeling on their fish oil?
