Hi there,
Generally Wellbutrin is beneficial for sex, but there are cases where it has the opposite effect. It had the opposite effect with me.
When I tried Wellbutrin, it gave me anorgasmia worse than SSRIs. Numb and no desire. Go figure. Wellbutrin gave me lots of negative sexual side effects.
Have you tried Prozac? It can tend to have fewer sexual side effects than the other SSRIs. Some women even report hypersexuality on Prozac. A dose of 10mg to 20mg might be worth trying instead of Effexor or Wellbutrin. Any higher than 20mg though and you will probably see those same sexual side effects again.
A real trick with Prozac though is to add a little Zyprexa at the same time, like 2.5mg to 5mg. This combination often works very well in people who have not done well with several other trials. It's great for amplifying the antidepressant effect strongly, speeding up the effect to within one week usually, it's great for sleep, it goes real well with Prozac, and it's either neutral or beneficial for sex. The only drawback is a tendency for weight gain in the first three months, which often subsides on its own or with dieting changes.
I take both Prozac and Zyprexa. I'm doing well. And I have no negative sexual side effects. I have a lot of faith in this combination and that is why I have suggested it.
