John,
Wow, you certainly have some strong opinions about Klonopin!
I am sorry you're having such a tough time. However, I must say I felt a bit put down, when you said that anyone who thinks Klonopin is not addictive is a "fool". Personally, I do not think they are "addictive" in the sense that cocaine and heroin are, and have yet to see any evidence to back up what you are saying! Am I, therefore, a fool?
When you make a strong statement like this, please back it up with some pretty good evidence! I have studied pharmacology a lot in dental school, and a lot more on my own. Could you kindly provide references that show the "addictiveness" of Klonopin, to the degree that anyone who disagrees is a "fool"? I certainly have not seen any such study, but am still looking!
When you say "addictive", do you really mean that it is likely to induce physiological tolerance? This may have a bit more truth to it. You may also want to consider that the "withdrawals" are merely the underlying anxiety coming back or that you did not taper the drug when you discontinued it.
Personally, I take clonazepam about every 3 days or so. I don't crave it, like cocaine addicts seem to crave cocaine. It merely reduces my periodic anxiety, and prevents me from spiraling down to depression. I have no desire to raise the dose after 1.5 years taking it. And I've gone periods of 2 or 3 weeks without it with no problem. There are many other people on this board that have had the same experience.
So please, when you are so sure about an opinion, and are convinced that everyone else is a fool for not seeing it your way, please tell us how you "saw the light", so we can see it too.
Matt
