In reply to Is Cipramil/Celexa right for me? Paranoid Anxiety , posted by Alara on December 20, 2002, at 20:40:49
Hi Alara,
Celexa may be the right med for you. Of all the SSRIs it is supposed to be the only one which raises serotonin levels and nothing else. After taking both Cipramil and Luvox I have found that the more I took of the latter, the more I felt it raised noradrenaline, etc, resulting in an increase in anxiety and other symptoms. With Cipramil I felt less anxiety the more I took and it didn't "mess" with the other neurotransmitters.
I also suffer from depression/anxiety-induced bouts of paranoia and found that Cipramil reverses this quite rapidly.
Perhaps this will also work for you. You need to know, however, that all ADs can make you feel worse (sometimes more anxious) in the beginning until they kick in. It took a week for me but I hear it usually takes several so one needs to remain patient.
I hope you feel better soon.
Take care,
Kari.
