Benzos do seem to cause depression in some people (mainly based on what I've seen here), but it's highly variable. Klonopin and Xanax both have strong antidepressant properties for me, probably in part because most of my depression results from anxiety. As Aadika pointed out, Xanax is actually regarded as having specific antidepressant properties, but many doctors don't like it because it's supposedly "addictive" (it can cause dependency, like most other psychiatric meds, but whether it's likely to cause addiction in many people is pretty questionable).
Anyway, if you did so well with Klonopin, why not just ask your doctor to let you continue it? If depression does become a problem then you might have to change strategies, but I wouldn't assume it will make you depressed, especially if it hasn't in the past.
