> I've been on Effexor XR for 6 months now. 75mg a day. I was previously on Prozac for 3 months but didn't sit well with me. The Effexor has definitely helped, especially in the first few months but i can't help feeling that i'm still not all the way there or that the effexor is losing its effectiveness. Not sure if depression is still somewhat there or if it is side effects causing problems. I feel tired and could sleep all day. Have occassional heart palpitations and anxiety that my heart is gonna stop. Not sure if I need to up dosage or if that would make things worse. Thinking about switching to the new lexapro (new form of Celexa), or adding something on top of the effexor like wellbutrin. I've done lots of research in hopes of finding an answer so i can have my life back to the way it was. It just seems like there is little hope for complete recovery. I'm also afraid to stop the effexor. I have tried weening off it and have those terrible withdrawl symptoms like the whooshing sound and electrical shock sensations and severe anxiety. Trying to fight this desease seems more depressing than the depression itself! On another note, I'm positive that my depression and anxiety was a result of ecstacy use. Are there any meds that work best specifically for ecstacy-related depression?
> I'm desperately seeking answers...Kris, I know what your going through cause its happening to me also. Ive got depression& anxiety, and am also sure a lot of its down to previous drug use. Im just trying to stop effexor, was on 150, am now down to 37.5, and the withdrawal is bad. Im stopping it cause I think it made me worse, the side effects were horrible. Whats weird is that trying to find an AD to make me feel better is actually making me feel worse as Im starting to think it might never happen, and I'll always feel this bad. How long were you using Ecstacy for, are you still doing it? Im not sure if I should just go back to doing it because if im never going to feel normal again, then I might as well try and enjoy myself how and when I can (trouble is that its kind of not the same as it was in the beginning). I havnt yet been put on on any other meds, but feeling better than when I was on the effexor, so i suppose thats one good thing.................. Here's hoping!
