In reply to going off Nardil. ill explain, posted by ross c on December 5, 2002, at 21:31:02
What problems did you have with the original Celexa/Remeron combo (that made you quit)?
I mean no offense, but it seems that you have (going by what i have read in this forum) arbitrarily switched/stopped meds, especially Nardil...maybe im wrong, but In my experience, the side-effects of every med I have taken have gone away over time (a month or so) and it just doesnt seem like you are consistant enough with a medication, or a specific dose for that matter.
FWIW, If I ever manipulated my Nardil dose, (I took 60 regularly) I would experience all sorts of side-effects-- and Im talking about just increasing 15mg.
The combo you are planning to go on sounds great, but how did you come up with this combo of meds? I GUARANTEE that the side-effects from 5 meds will be much harsher than a MAOI (I have been on all the meds you have listed, cept Abilify, and combos of each)
At one time I was on Effexor Prozac Klonopin Neurontin and Inderal..yeah I wasnt depressed, or anxious, but I was a zombie, and crippled with various side-effects.
Abilify being a new medication, seems interesting, but for social anxiety? Im aware of Abilify having anti-anxiety effects, but this effect is simply because it is a 5ht1a agonist. Do you think an anti-psychotic (i hate that word) will help? Don't you think you are inviting a myriad of side-effects by introducing this med, along with a highly potent SSRI, a second Generation AD like Remeron, a Benzo, and Neurontin?
Regardless, I wish you the best of luck..Im sorry If the tone of this post is "pissy" but Im just saying (typing) whats on my mind.
