The medicine's levels in the blood change very slowly (hence the slow build up and the slow taper off) and so the hour is not that critical. I just take mine (37.5 mg for pain) routinely at bedtime because it makes me sleepy.
When I tapered off before, I made slight changes in dose only every 2 weeks.
If I forget a dose, it is about 36 hours before I notice anything (in me, irritability) and then that stops about 45 minutes after taking it.
