i recently bacame aware of the fact, that the atypical tricyclical AD tianeptine, which actually INCREASES reupte of 5-HTP into presynaptic membranes, is licensed in austria.
the following list should be able to give you an impression, which drugs i already have tried:(1) SSRIs (paroxetine and sertraline): the main effect has been on my enviroment. almost everybody was telling me, how much my behaviour improved etc. the problem was, i - in contrast to my enviroment - didnīt find the SSRI-effects convenient (emotional flattening, sexual side-effects etc.)
paroxetine left me with a severe SSRI-withdrawl syndrome (bad mood, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting etc.)(2) reboxetine: in the beginning it made me feel wired and agitated; on day 2 or 3 i got a very, very, very dry mouth, constipation and was unable to sleep. also, i absolutely couldnīt get an erection anymore.
(3) t i a n e p t i n e : now it is the second day, iīm taking tianeptine. although structurally it is a tricyclic, i donīt experiece any anticholinergic side-effect - not even a dry mouth! as far as iīm able to describe itīs effects by now, tianeptine has some stimulant-like effects. and my mood started to improve 45min. after taking the first 12.5 mg-dose. t. is a bit anorectic, too.
iīve just finished reading through 179 abstracts concerning tianeptine (the result of a search on pubmed.gov).
anyone out there, who has tried tianeptine himself?
