Paxil is VERY similar to Effexor. I've been on both. The reason I quit the Paxil was because it slowed down my thoughts too much. Like I couldn't think straight on it after a while. Basically same side effects, it was difficult for me to start up, it was difficult for me to quit. I've heard better things about Paxil from women who use it though as opposed to Effexor. It doesn't really matter what time of the day you take it since it has a fairly long half-life and it will pretty much always remain in your system unless you let it dry out for like a day or so (which is not a good idea).

You really should let the medication take it's time to work though. 3 days because of some minor side effects was just a waste of 3 days. You should be giving yourself and the medication about 4-6 weeks to figure out exactly what it was going to do for you. The first few days on Paxil really won't be any different than your first few days on Effexor. It takes a while for your body to accept the medication that you're giving it. If you were taking Anti-Biotics to fight off an infection, would you suddenly stop the anti-biotics after 3 days because they didn't make you feel so great and just go back to being sick? Or would you allow it to adjust to your body so that after a number of days you barely notice it anymore and you would get better?

You're starting to run out of good meds now for the anxiety/panic symptoms so you really should give the paxil at least a month to work.
