Zyprexa and Clozaril - Diabetes

Posted by SLS on November 16, 2002, at 14:01:20

Hi Folks.

Does anyone know at what dosage Zyprexa (olanzapine) raises blood-sugar and triglyceride levels?

At what dosage and for how long is it necessary to take Zyprexa before it can produce type 2 diabetes. What about diabetes mellitis?

Both Zyprexa (olanzapine) and Clozaril (clozapine) are the two atypical antipsychotics that produce the most weight gain. They are also known to increase blood sugar and produce or worsen both diabetes mellitis (insulin-dependent) and type 2 diabetes (adult-onset) in people whom have never had it.

Thanks in advance for any input.
