Well, from what I remember, he talked about several patients with bipolar depression responding extrememly well to lamictal. He said one of his parnters call this the "Lamictal Miracle". Unforunately a majority went on to hypomania after about 4 months.
Dr Gershon then mentioned it was important to use a second mood stablizer with lamictal. He didn't specifically recommend alternatives, but did say he often needed to use a second mood stablizer with lamictal.
