My experience with Neurontin is very similar to yours except that instead of saying that it has no effect now I would say that the effect is more subtle, blended in. When I first took it I felt a sense of well-being that made me say to my doc "maybe I can have the rest of my life after all". I'm quite sure that I would feel its absense in my med mix, but have no reason to test that out. My sense is that it is a calming balancer to the activating effect of my Lamictal. I have many less headaches than I used to, don't know if Neurontin is a factor ot not.
Why knock a med that helps some people whether the drug companies are as greedy as we already know or not? Isn't a big part of the idea here to respect each other's experience and sense of themselves? If you follow this site you see how amazingly different we are in our responses to meds.

Neurontin can definitely have an effect -- the first two or three times I took it, I experienced a very mellow, relaxed, pleasant high that definitely wasn't a placebo effect. Since then, I've felt nothing. I continue to take 1200 mg/day because my pdoc thinks it may add "background" stability in the context of my other meds, and his intuition is generally very good. He considers it among the mildest of mood stabilizers, but helpful for some people. It has absolutely no side effects for me. I doubt whether it's doing much any more, but it sure did right at the beginning, so I can see how others might get a sustained benefit.
