Roo,

The only side effect I remember having was abdominal pain. I was originally prescribed one 4mg pill in the morning and two at night. I ended up just taking one at night which has been effective for me. Yes, it is a mood stabilizer. I take it for bipolar disorder. My doctor said she wanted me to try it because it is also supposed to be effective for anxiety (which it has been). About a month ago, I also added on Lexapro (10mg) for depression. So far, so good.
