I didn't feel revved up at all on the Marplan or sedated. I didn't have any trouble sleeping. But then again, I always take stuff to sleep no matter what meds I'm on! It didn't affect my appetite, although I did gain a few pounds, but that could have been coincidental.
I have since found a solution to the low blood pressure issue after I went to a consult at Stanford. I think the medication is called Florinef, and you take it with potassium.
I may try another antidepressant in the future. I'm on a lot of mood stabilizers and Mirapex now, but Parnate, another MAOI is on my list as well as duloxetine, Lexapro, Wellbutrin and Effexor. According to the expert at Stanford,these may be more potent than the SSRIs and I have a pretty treatment-resistant depression.
