I have taken effexor at a very lose doseage for many months. I have clinical depression and at the low doseage, my depression symptoms came back. Physciatrist increased to 75 mg daily...was at this doseage for 3 weeks. I also suffer from migraine headaches. I started 2 weeks ago with having almost daily headaches. My phsyciatrist said to stop taking effexor. I asked if I needed to be weaned off effexor and he said "no".
2 Days later, my head feels "funny" dizzy, tired alot..hard to describe how I was feeling, but I definitely didn't feel right. Today, day 3, I have slurred speech, can't find the words, shaking uncontrollably. I called my neurologist and asked if this was a migraine (which a local neurologist said it was, just so he wouldn't have to see me in the ER) or what?
Neuro said as far as he could tell without seeing me (he's out of state) he thought it could be withdrawl symptoms. To test this, he had me go home, bite into a capsule of Effexor and rest. If the symptoms got better and/or go away, then it is withdrawl.
I will see him tomorrow.
Fortunately, the test worked, and I feel alittle better, my speech is not slurred.Has anyone gone thru withdrawl of effexor and/or any type of drug?
