This has a better effect on depression than synthroid alone, according to a 1999 article in the New England Journal of Medicine. It's OK to get your TSH level down to about 0.5, although in the long run you will have to pay attention to avoiding osteoporosis. Good dosages to start with are 50 ug. of synthroid and 12.5 ug cytomel.

You guy are so helpful. The info you both provided has made it so I am able to effectively talk to my pdoc about thyroid supplemention. My pdoc is confering with my edoc, so I should know more in a few days. I forwarded the 1999 New England Journal of Medicine article to my pdoc too. So that should put everyone on the same page.ECT is proving to be extremely effective for me. But I don't seem to be able to make it through the entire week betweeen session without having an emotion crash. This is very discouraging to me. But I had a treatment today, and feel quite well now. I just have to be careful not to take on too much. I kinda get a little "high." So I have to get better at reining myself in after the treatment. Do you think T3 and T4 could help with the big swings; the elation after ECT then the crash toward the end of the week? BTW, I am pre menopausal, 36 years old. So osteoporosis isn't a *major* concern at the moment.
You guys are absolutely the best. I am so appreciative of your kindnessness and informative, prompt posts. My best wishes to you both. I can't thank you enough.
