Unfortunately, many ADs produce sexual side effects. The TCAs generally cause fewer and less severe, but some find the other side effects of TCAs (dry mouth, somnolence, constipation, postural hypotension) intolerable. The AD best known for low sexual side effects is wellbutrin. It's activating and can cause more jitteriness and anxiety. If you go the wellbutrin route make sure you have some flavor of benzo to deal with the anxiety (even if you don't go the wellbutrin route).
If I was your psychiatrist (I'm a doctor but of philosophy) I'd start you on Wellbutrin XR 150mg in the morning and Xanax prn up to 2 mg. I'd then move you as quickly as you could tolerate to Wellbutrin XR 150mg b.i.d. and adjust the Xanax level.
So, there are many options for you. Something will work for you. You just have to have patience.
Feel Better,
Britt
