Ritalin withdrawel - how long does it last?

I am going from 40 mgs. per day of extended release Ritalin to 10 mgs. per day of regular Ritalin and am experiencing bad nausea, headaches and down mood. Any way to ease this? How long does it last? I feel awful. (I am going down since I am getting too many side effects from the extended release version/dose)
