I was on Serzone (a drowsy drug) and a channel blocker, and the combo made me soooo sluggish. Because they are primarily for high blood pressure (right?) and not migraines, they slow down your heart and lower your blood pressure, which makes you drowsy. I slept and took lots of naps! In fact, my neurologist told me to take the ccb at night because it would help with sleep.
Everybody (every body) is different, but this was my experience. I understand that Serzone is not exactly an SSRI, but I think the mechanism is similar.
Zoloft exacerbated my insomnia, and it sounds like it gave you some sleep trouble, too. Since my problem was anxiety, Serzone worked to practically restore my sleep to normal most of the time. (I'm sure if it bothered you that much and wasn't helping in the depression department, you'd have ditched the Zoloft long ago.)
If you have a good relationship with your pharmacist, he can often tell you about med combos. Do share this info. with your doctor, though, especially if the one prescribing the Zoloft is not the one prescribing the channel blocker.
G'luck.
