I've definitely heard of people taking 20 mg, but it's equivalent to about 80 mg of Celexa, quite a high dose. If you were doing fine on 20 mg of celexa, it seems more likely that 10 mg of Lexapro was too much, rather than not enough. Since celexa and lexapro are very similar, it would seem that the screaming had something to do with adjusting to a more potent dose.
