I have severe OCD, and the meds I take for it - zyprexa prozac, effexor, and klonopin, leave me without much drive or "zip" so I have tried numerous stimulants to light myself back up, and stimulate my thinking process. While many of have worked initially, the first day or so, ritalin, dexedrine, (to a lesser extent) and modafinil make my OCD much worse - I don't know if I have adhd, but I definately have trouble concentrating on the combination of meds I'm on. I took a fair dose of modafinil, and found myself violently thrust in the throngs of obsessions, "needing" to crawl under a table in the waiting room of my docotrs office. Perhaps it would be good if we could keep eachother abreast of our experiences with stimulants and OCD.
I read an exerpt from the OCD foundation, written by one of the OCD experts that said, stimulants sometimes have little effects on people with OCD, sometimes improve their symptoms, and "rarely make them worse" - what a raw deal, well maybe we'll find something that will help, I'll try to keep abreast of what your trying, and let you know if I come across anything incredible.
