The good thing about them is they aren't very sedative and have a lower incidence of cognitive side-effects compared to some other antimanic agents. Also, twice daily dosing is usually sufficient. Weight gain isn't a big trouble with them either. I found Trileptal to be too nauseating for me, however (rats, the *only* thing that I couldn't tolerate about it!). But, everybody's different. The more options the better. You might bring those two up at your next visit.

**Thanks Mitch--I'll definitely add these to the list of meds to discuss with my pdoc. I have to agree with you that the more options, the better! I looked these particular meds up today. I'm sure hoping to find something I can tolerate well. Would be great (and about time!). Appreciate all the info!
