in my simple understanding, the antihistamine blocks histamine which is the body's reaction to something that causes allergic symptoms, like a stuffy nose, or an insect bite. The histamine blocker, works in the stomach, to limit indigestion. I have found some good general explanations at the usual medication sites on the net. It was because of the similarity of the names, histamine, that I thought they might be related in some way. They aren't, at least not directly. For me however, they are, in that I have the same reaction to them when I take them. They now go permanently on my 'medication allergy' list.
