In reply to conversion disorder and DID, posted by Anne/eg on September 12, 2002, at 12:03:35
I have a diagnosis of DD-NOS and I used to get this all the time. I've also had head injuries and seizures (gran mal), with normal EEGs (thank God, I didn't want to lose my driver's license). What I've done is to have a team of physicians who communicate regularly to each other- psychiatrist, neurologist, psychologist and internist. I feel they have taken my physical symptoms seriously and have always ordered the proper tests. It's much more difficult with a head injury though, despite numerous MRIs, EEGs, glucose testing- I was hypoglycemic and that accounted for one seizure, it's really difficult to discount epilepsy if you've had multiple seizures. Are you taking an AED now? Just because he mentioned elements of conversion doesn't mean a real problem doesn't exist. If you want to discuss this further, you can try posting on Psycho-Psycho Babble and get more responses. take care, judy
