Dexamyl and anxiety relief

Dexamyl, obviously no longer available, was an extended release Dexedrine and barbituate combo pill sold a long time ago.

Here's an ad that Smith, Kline and French made claiming antidepressant and socially communicative effects in "verbally inhibited" patients:

I would be surprised if Dexedrine actually had an anti-anxiety effect on its own, since this is most likely combined with a barbituate to offset its anxiety-inducing effects in the same way Desbutal combined methamphetamine with Phenobitual, a barbituate.
