Mitrazapine (Remeron) does effect serotonin (5-HT-2A and 2C) and norepinephrine alpha-2 receptor blockade, but also other receptors like H1 histamine. The histamine increase is responsible for the sedation at low doses (15 mg). At higher doses (30 mg and up) the sedation is partly overcome by the norepinephrine increase. This particular drug changes profile a lot with the dosage. Does this help any?>>
