Polypharmacy

Posted by Squiggles on August 28, 2002, at 13:16:11

What a nightmare; i was at another group
asking about gastro effects of Synthroid and
i was given the monograph; how interesting
that its adverse effects are the same as
the withdrawal effects of benzodiazepines --
just to show how complicated the picture can
get when there are more than one drug involved;

Without someone watching, it is conceivable
that when i had a seizure/or/stroke it could
have been from taking 2 Synthroid instead of the
usual 1 by mistake, or it could have been that
i got dehydrated and the lithium went up, or
it could have been the withdrawal itself combined
with either of the two, and the high heat.

My dr. said it was withdrawal and probably it
was, but this is just an example of the mess
that polypharmacy can present to a clinician:

All drugs that i take have the possibility
of presenting seizures.
