Don't know how long you've been on increased dose of Effexor, but it could take a week or more to 'feel' anything--so don't give up yet.And, IMHO, it is rarely worth riding out loneliness if there is someone you can call or see. Part of depression is staying silent about what is going on with us, and it is not helpful (I'm talking about opening up or talking with the right people...sometimes talking to people can be the worst thing for us if they don't understand the disease).
I say, reach out, make a call to or go see doc or a friend, but do not stay in isolation with your loneliness if there is any reasonable alternative.
And, while posting here is a very good thing to do, and I'd like for you to keep doing it, it is not the same as calling a friend or getting together with someone who understands.
