It is definitely less energizing, but has had some mild-moderate benefit re social phobia and anxiety. The big drawback is that it makes me pretty fatigued and sleepy at 40 mg or up (which I'm now trying - up until now it has been 20-30 mg.

Marplan was the first MAOI I was prescribed, and I always thought it was the best of the group. I had to switch to Nardil in the early 1990s after taking Marplan for 2-3 years, and I had a lot of weight gain problems that I didn't have with Marplan.

Also, I never got sleepy with Marplan, but haven't had this problem with Nardil either.

Now that Marplan is available again, I'm thinking of switching back, but my doctor recommends I stop Nardil entirely and go drug-free for a couple of weeks before beginning the Marplan. I haven't yet been able to do this because my mood crashes so badly during the washout period.
