I am worried that the SEROXAT won't stand a chance against the sedatives which will be depressing her. If she stops the valium and sleeping tablets what should she take to replace them?

Xanax has a mild anti-depressant effect - but I believe it is because it is so effective in reducing anxiety which causes depression. You may also want to read this:

Perhaps the valium has been misprescribed or she needs to try another bzd since one reacts to each of them in a different manner.
