I have to agree with the if it ain't broke maxim.. Depakote works really well for mania, but it is a depressing med and lithium is not. Lamictal is probably the best in terms of AD qualities but doesn't work too well for mania. Tegretol has a lot of side effects and neurontin is useless. hope this helps- judy
