Actually, it is the MAO-A that metabolizes the synaptic dopamine.A single 300 mg dose inhibits 80% of MAO-A and 20-30% of MAO-B.
Besides its selectivity, moclobemide is also a reversible MAOI, the inhibition lasts for 24 hours. So, you don't have to wait for weeks before switching to another AD.
