I stopped taking Wellbutrin (for depression) as a result of undesirable side effects -- extreme irritability and some anxiety. It was, at the time, enough for me to want to cease taking the medication. I did, however, completely stop smoking in the short period I was taking it -- that is, until. . .
I was re-diagnosed with ADHD. I say "re-diagnosed", because I guess I never went into remission back in my Ritalin-Kid days. I am now taking 40mgs Dexedrine a day. Though I feel the medication helps greatly with my ADHD, I have taken up smoking yet again. It's back with a vengence this time, smoking like there is no tomorrow.
When I think back at when I was taking Wellbutrin, and how much I lost ALL desire to smoke, it seems somehow worth it to me to start taking Wellbutrin, even with the undesirable side effects. If I can last a couple months on it, I really feel I can be home free.
My question is this: What are the implications of taking a stimulant such as Dexedrine with another stimulant-type medication like Wellbutrin. I know there aren't any interactions between the two meds. I have also tried deciphering tons of articles found on the web with obscure references and abstracts, but I'd like to hear personal stories. I feel odd asking my doctorS about this - I have a GP that prescribed me the Wellbutrin and a specialist doctor that handles just my ADHD issues.
Thanks in advance!
