In reply to Can Neurontin take the edge off Paxil Withdrawal?, posted by Misunderstood on July 18, 2002, at 11:15:35
Hi,
I remember one gal at the RxList Effexor board that was having a terrible withdrawal period from Effexor. She was experiencing what she called "brain zaps", i.e. flashes of light, aura-type seizures. Her doctor prescribed Neurontin which did not help.
You might consider the amino acid supplement Taurine. Taurine has been used for epilepsy as well as seizures. Also, it would be a good idea to take Brewer's yeast or Nutritional yeast as yeast is rich in many basic nutrients, such as the B vitamins (except for B12), sixteen amino acids, and at least fourteen different minerals. Take calcium citrate at bedtime - can be taken on an empty stomach. Important in normal nerve impulse transmission. Also helpful - magnesium - 700mg a day in divided doses. Take between meals, on an empty stomach, with apple cider vinegar or betaine HCI.
