Sometimes I think we freak out too much about the side effects...if they are minimal...are they side effects, or just natural parts of life?????
Most of us gain weight as we age...and I realize some anti-depressants can speed up this process, but then I try to think of ways to counter-act these side-effects. I stopped eating salt, started drinking lots of water, take a vitamin B supplement and the water-retention doesn't seem to be so bad. I have also eliminated processed foods and sodas which contain tons of salt! Along with curing the depression/anxiety, I have learned to eat much healthier and exercise every day. It's alot of work, but I am better now than I have ever been. There is no magic pill..there are those that can help, but we all have challenges in life...even people who aren't on medication. If you have the opportunity to nap, then go for it...if you don't have the time..enjoy that cup of coffee in the mid afternoon...(lattes ect are FULL of fat, though..heehee). Maybe there should be a diet forum on here to dicuss dieting and SSRIs...????
