That's really terrible. I have heard things like this happen to some people, but the majority of folks don't have such severe, permanent reactions to ADs. I wonder, though, whether meds are capable of wrecking your brain chemistry permanently. It's possible that something else was going on coincidentally. Maybe your illness became more severe. Maybe age had something to do with it.
I had a terrible reaction to an antibiotic. I took three doses and was in excruciating pain and unable to use any of the joints in my body. Even my vision changed. Three doses! It took two months before the effects were gone, and I understand many of those taking Cipro for Anthrax experienced similar problems. The effects can last up to a year.
Please keep an open mind (I know it's tough), especially if you find you must take antidepressants. You could very well return to normal (whatever that is--but normal for you) soon. Maybe some doctors can suggest what else might have affected your EEG.
