That's interesting. L-Taurine does not readily cross the blood-brain barrier.
So the action may have been elsewhere.I wouldn't expect most people to get a robust psychiatric response
from L-Taurine.There is a carrier molecule that crosses the blood-brain barrier
quite readily. It is the drug Acamprosate (Camprol).
The chemical is n-acetyl-homo-taurine. It is mainly used to treat
alcholism, but there is some interest in bipolar disorder.
The medicine increases Gaba conductance and inhibits NMDA conductance.
Just a guess, I think there may be uses for it outside of alcoholism
and bipolar. The medicine is available outside the US and in the FDA's
paper-work for into in the US.John
