Acety-l--carnitine -- energizer or waste of money?

I was thinking of purchasing Twinlab Acetyl-l-carnitine but it is pretty expensive.

Is their any noticeable energizing, stimulant, or mental stimulant effect from this supplement?

I have been burned many times by buying supplements or herbs that don't seem to do anything at all, don't want to make that mistake again.
