Regarding the comments made in this thread about the medicinal uses of weed, I have an interesting story you might like. My father is an oncologist, hematologist, a doctor who specializes in treating cancer and blood diseases. Once, as a joke, I asked him if he ever prescribed marijuana for himself when he was having a bad day, you know—to kind relax. My dad isn’t exactly the funny funniest guy in the world, and I guess the humor just sort of went right over his head. He replied, “No, I usually don’t prescribe that THC stuff to alleviate nausea or enhance appetite which is a common side-effect of chemotherapy. It just doesn’t work so great. I use other drugs, that are better.”
But I pressed on, “But Abba, if it did work well would you prescribe it?” And he said, “Sure I would, why the hell not, it occasionally works for a few people and I prescribe it for them. But it usually sucks.”That’s my anecdotal evidence for either the effectiveness of marijuana as an anti-nausea agent, proof for it is ineffective as an anti-nausea agent, or that my dad really doesn’t have a sense of humor.
