Anticholinergic antidepressants (like the tricyclics) are really bad for your cognition and memory. According to my experience, so are the SSRI's (maybe not so bad) and Effexor.

I wouldn't use any antidepressant that has significant anticholinergic effect, and I would augment my meds with a smart-drug like piracetam or vinpocetine. I find these two (piracetam and vinpocetine) to be very good to improve memory.
