The reason why Topamax helps in making you lose so much weight in addition to many others is that it suppresses the appetite big time! It also stabalizes your mood, which gets rid of snacking to fulfill our need when we feel down, or depressed. The dex. may actually work for a while, as it "speeds" you up... but after taking it for a long period of time it can actually make you feel hungrier. I have been on Topamax since Aug. and weighed 150lbs. (not obese) and lost 30 lbs. without trying. I am on 250mg now. I can eat whatever I want, whenever. I just don't have the craving all the time. I have also been on dexedrine for my ADHD... it made me lose weight for a while, then it made me hungrier than I normally would have been. My best advice is if you are back to 220lb. now, is to get of the dex. and stick to the Topamax. It work the best and the weight stays off. Because once you stop the dex. all the weight will return, because all it is is speed... plus, it's really bad for your heart.
