In reply to Dr. who will prescribe Klonopin for long term use, posted by Paul Brown on May 23, 2002, at 15:34:09
Hi Paul,
I know several people on this board have gotten great relief from long-term klonopin use. I am very treatment resistent and am currently seeing Dr. Michael Liebowitz in NYC. I'd recommend him, but he's *very* expensive and you shouldn't have to pay that much for a prescription to a drug that you already know works for you. However, keep him in mind because when it comes to anxiety disorders I'd go so far as to say he's the best. If you don't want to interview docs, which is absolutely appropriate, I'd go to a doctor who specializes in treating people with bipolar disorder. These doctors try to avoid prescribing anti-depressants to bipolar patients because they can induce mania, and so they are more likely to be familiar with using benzodiazepines. Here's a link to a referral database of doctor's who treat people with bipolar disorder:

Good Luck,
Jon
