I was on Tegretol for a couple of years. It's a very good mood stabilizer for some. For me, it was a very hard med to adjust too. I do remember having start up problems where I felt moody or edgy. But over time (I am talking weeks and weeks, not days..), I felt a lot calmer, less reactive and I did sleep well each night.Tegretol, for some, (not me though) can have antidepressant effects, as it has some molecular similarities to the TCA's. You may need to just give yourself a little more time to adjust to this med...
Have you touched base with your pdoc?
Hope you feel better soon.
