Hi Jay,
I was on Tegretol for a couple of years. It's a very good mood stabilizer for some. For me, it was a very hard med to adjust too. I do remember having start up problems where I felt moody or edgy. But over time (I am talking weeks and weeks, not days..), I felt a lot calmer, less reactive and I did sleep well each night.

Tegretol, for some, (not me though) can have antidepressant effects, as it has some molecular similarities to the TCA's. You may need to just give yourself a little more time to adjust to this med...
Have you touched base with your pdoc?
Hope you feel better soon.
Chloe
