> People who are on an ever-changing cocktail are generally that way from a doctor who doesn't know enough (at least, about their case). It may take quite a while to find a combo that does work well but patience & perserverence is needed. Too often, a doctor will switch meds (sometimes on a patient's insistence) without fine-tuning it enough.

I disagree, partly. People with bipolar disorder often need meds changed or added frequently, atleast in the beginning. In most cases it's just plain cruel to have a person wait out a med that destabilizes them. But, patience and perserverence definitely seem to be one thing the success stories all have in common. It does seem like a lot of people here have had really short trials of the meds they claim don't work for them.

My two cents,
Jon
