Lithium how long to adjust for side effects ? help

Posted by ben on May 15, 2002, at 7:59:19

When can I expect to get used to initial (I hope the subside !) side effects from lithium: weakness and a bit shaky in the limbs (muscles of legs) . Increased nervousness and some tremor in the hands.
My dose is very low (6 mmol a day = 330 mg Lithiumcarbonat) since 1 week because I had two trials before and couldnt tolerate the nausea when staring on higher doses. So now I want to start low and go slow to higher doses (+3 mmol per week). I thought it could be a method to minimize initial side effects.
Any experiences or inputs ?

Thanks
