Hi Jon,

My last appointment with Dr. Liebowitz was a couple of days ago and we talked briefly about mirapex. He mostly refered to it as an antidote for SSRI-induced apathy, lack of motivation, etc. However, he implied that it may be useful in combinations for social phobia. For example, SSRI + Neurontin + Mirapex. You're hearing this from me and not directly from him, so take it for what it's worth. I don't think there have been any clinical trials of Mirapex for SP. I belive it has proven efficacy for depression, though. You didn't get any effect from any of the usual meds for SP, right (paxil, etc., klonopin, nardil)? You could do something different like try Wellbutrin -- it also helps with quiting smoking. Wellbutrin has atleast one positive open study which is better than nothing. Have you ever been on Serzone? A controlled study shows serzone effective for SP. Have you considered CBT as an adjunct? Dr. Liebowitz said they're finding that CBT + medication is very effective.

Jon
