That's very strange... this is something you should get checked out. The only time I have heard of fainting, or passing out (caused by an emotional response) is in patients with cateplexy. Generally strong emotions like laughter, anger and surprise can trigger an episode.
In any event, I don't think that this type of response is "normal" under any circumstance...If I was you, I would see a neurologist.
