I think taurine is tough to cross the brain.http://www.sciencenet.org.uk/database/Biology/0010/b00790d.html
"Taurine’s effectiveness in epilepsy has been limited by its poor diffusion across the blood-brain barrier."
Better luck with the medicine Acamprosate (Camprol) this is n-acetyl-homo-taurine and zips right into the brain. Its used primarily for alcoholism, but I see some clinical interest for bipolar.

Forest Labs is trying to get this medicine fast track approved by the FDA into the USA in the near future.

> Argh! I hate that expression! How about 'More than one way to pick your nose'? No animal experiments here, please. ;=) Anyhoo, do you remember the brand name of that product? I've been hearing good things about TMG. Also, what do you know about L-Taurine? It's supposedly a GABA agonist and membrane/mood stabilizer. The question is if it gets across the blood brain barrier. A transport medium might exist, but I haven't researched it yet. BarbaraCat
