Hello,
Can anyone recommend a Good Psychiatrist in the UK, one that specialises in Treatment Resistance Depression. Although I trust my current psychiatrist and believe he wants to help me I don't seem to be getting very far. I've been going through hell since last June and all he seems to do is put me on a drug, leave me for six weeks, increase the dose, leave it for another six weeks, then put me on another drug and leave me for six weeks. I am now trying Prozac and lithium which doestn't seem to be doing much except sending me into a horrible state of anxiety throughout the day and leaving me drained in the evening. I know I'll be on this for another 4 weeks, will go back to him in 4 weeks time only for him to increase the dose of lithium for another six weeks and try again. I know they are not miracle workers and we can't expect them to just suddenly produce a quick remedy but sometimes I feel there is no way out of this, I feel so trapped. Does anyone know of a psychiatrist in the UK who will give you a drug for two weeks and if there is no improvement at all switch to another drug. I know from past experience that if a drug is going to help me then I should see some improvement (a glimmer of hope) within two to three weeks and I'm tired of playing this waiting game. The last 9 months seems like an eternity.
